Well, today I am officially 10 weeks into my pregnancy, which means the baby has graduated from an embryo to a fetus and is now about the size of an olive (1 inch long).
(the baby is the little white spot at the bottom of the picture, it looks kinda like a lima bean)We saw the doctor for the first time last week and had our first ultra sound. It was SO COOL! We saw the babies heart beating and we even saw the baby move a little. I have a feeling our baby is going to be an active one if it was already moving around at 9 weeks! Having the ultra sound really made this whole thing more tangible, especially for Nick. For me the constant nausea was a pretty good sign, but Nick needed something a little more solid. It was so fun to watch his reaction to the ultra sound. Since I'm the one that all this stuff is happening to, it's nice that Nick can experience certain things with me. He insists that he come to every appointment I have, which I'm glad for. It's such an amazing thing that we get to experience together, and it doesn't hurt to have someone there to hold my hand when I have my blood drawn (I'm kind of a wuss when it comes to needles).
I was feeling pretty sick at the beginning until I was about 8 weeks probably. But overall, I have been feeling a lot better lately. I still have some bad moments, and I'm never sure what smells might set me off, but I think that I'm out of the worst of it. Nick was a great help when I wasn't able to do much for myself. He would run to the store with my approved list of medications from the doctor and come home with an abundance of anti nausea products. I'm very lucky to have such a wonderful husband.
We have our next appointment on November 13th. I don't expect that anything too exciting will happen at that appointment. But we should find out the sex of the baby sometime in December. Then we will spend Nick's winter break from school working on the nursery (yea!).
