Nick and Ashleigh update

A friend of mine has recently gotten me into crafting. It's all been pretty simple stuff that I'm making. My favorite thing to make has been hair bows for Leah, although lately she is in the habit of pulling them of her head :( So I guess I'll just have to start making them as gifts and maybe she'll be interested in wearing them soon.

Here are a few pictures of some of the things I've made and am still working on (Once again, pay no mind to the poor picture quality. A photographer I am not):

This is a hair piece I made for my cousin Emily and I to wear in Emily's sister, Megan's wedding this April. There is a comb attached to the back.

A little flower clip for Leah

Felt flower headband

Fabric flower headband

Necklace
I also have a pillow that I am working on for Leah's room. And a shirt for my self that I am "updating" with some fabric accessories. I will post pictures of those, pending that they turn out well :) There is also a potential purse in the future, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.

I've also been enjoying reading a lot, but I've become stumped on what to read next. I just finished The Lovely Bones, and I wasn't a big fan of it. I currently have 3 books that I've started and haven't been interested in continuing.
1. The Time Travelers Wife - Audrey Niffenegger
2. Under the Dome - Stephen King
3. Wicked - Gregory Maguire (the book that inspired the musical)
Anyways, if anyone has any suggestions, let me know!

Work wise, for those of you who don't know, I left my job at Salon Cosabella back in October. It was a hard decision leaving there because I LOVED working there. I loved my clients and everyone I worked with. But to make it worth me staying there, I'd have to work full time, and I just couldn't imagine being away from Leah for that long let alone putting her in daycare. I applied at a few salons after I left, hoping that I would be able to get better pay for less hours. But, after an admittedly poor attempt to actually find a job, I decided to go in another direction. I've started making home visits for my clients, and so far, it's been working out great. At first I was nervous that people would miss the pampering of a salon, but it turns out that most people like the convenience of me coming to their homes. I'm able to charge less because I have no overhead, and I can coordinate with my clients what works best for us both. If you're interested in details about prices and so forth, leave me a message with your email address and I'll send you the info!

Nick is back at school for the spring semester. He is on track to graduate in the spring of 2011. We love him and are so grateful for all the hard work he is putting in for our family. He has recently started looking for internships. Most internships aren't available until the summer, but there are a few that start before then that he is looking into. So, if there is anyone out there who has connections in the Accounting/Finance world let us know!

I would love to know prices. :) Although, I'm pretty low maintenance - I usually just want a trim.

Love all of your crafts! Those hair bands are adorable. Too bad the babies are too stubborn to wear them!

Good work Ashleigh on the hair assessories. I'm getting the crafty itch again & am feeling up to making some hair accessories myself whilst on maternity leave. Let's get together soon! Like real soon. I can't sit around the house all day just taking care of Logan. I need to do something!
