Farewell G.G.

This past Tuesday, my great grandmother passed away.  She was known to the family as "G.G." and she was a wonderful woman.  She lived a long happy life and just this past February, she turned 101 years old.  I learned a lot from her when I was growing up,  she taught me how to knit, sew, make "Dammit Dolls", and how to make her homemade chicken noodle soup.  She loved everything gold or purple and made doll heads out of dried out apples.  Needless to say she was a very interesting woman.  Her husband died about 12 years ago, and this made her very lonely. So to keep herself company she adopted a parrot that she named Sage.  She taught Sage to say "go Jazz" (she loved the Utah Jazz) to say "hello" when the phone rang, and Sage even whistled when she got out of the shower.  She spent her last few years hanging out with Sage, bragging about my brother (who was always her favorite), making friends at her assisted living home, and complaining about the horrible cafeteria food.  Needless to say, she will be very missed.  But I am happy to know that she will finally get to be with her beloved husband again, and that I will always have the memories of her with me.

Ashleigh, that is so sweet. I'm sorry she passed away but I'm sure she is relieved to be with her husband again. We are excited to see you on the fourth and as it turns out, we accidently planned the primary party that morning and it's conference morning so we had to reschedule it for the previous night. So, you can come up whenever you want to--as early as you want. Unfortunately, we don't have TV, so we are just going to watch conference the next week online for Saturday's sessions. Hope you don't mind missing them--if you do, we understand--we could even go to a session here in Fort Collins if you really wanted to...

GG was the best! Her homemade chicken noodle soup was super yummy. Glad she' with Papa Lynn, but will miss her terribly.

Ashleigh! I am going to miss your shower and I'm so bummed about it. I have my breastfeeding class that night that I signed up for 3 months ago and already paid for. I hope you have a wonderful time! I really wish I could be there!
