And the Award goes to.....

Me. That's right, the Mom of the Year award goes to me. This afternoon when Leah woke up from her nap, she was a little grumpy. She saw her bag of sidewalk chalk and asked me if we could color out side, so I got her bundled up and took her out on our deck to color. Our deck door doesn't lock, so we have one of those wooden sticks that holds the door closed. So we go out on the deck and I shut the door to keep the cold air from coming into the house. We colored for a bit and then Leah wanted to come inside, so I got up to open the door and it didn't move. I tried again and it still wasn't moving. So I looked, and sure enough, the stick had fallen back down when I shut the door and locked us outside. When Leah saw that I couldn't open the door, she said "Uh oh, door locked." So I told her, yeah, mommy accidentally locked the door. And she replies "Silly mommy!" I briefly freaked out, running through a few scenarios in my head; jumping off the deck and going for help, yelling to see if a neighbor could hear me, and then I realized, I had brought my cell phone out with me. It was a good 30 minutes until Nick would be home, so I called my Mom. Thank goodness for living 5 minutes away from my parents! I can't count the number of times it's come in handy. But we managed to make due with the situation, and had a lesson on colors, shapes and numbers :)

Perfect example of why it is SO important to live near us :)

Oh, I'm so sorry! It's hard to be in unplanned situations with kids. Especially say, in the airport. :) Glad you're both ok.
