"I'm broke, therefore, I craft"
So, I was recently introduced to this AMAZING new website called Pinterest If you're not already using it, request an invite, it's sweet. It's basically, as one of my friends described it, a "virtual pinboard" you create idea boards or boards for things you like, and items can be "pinned" straight off the Internet onto your "boards". I know, it sounds confusing, but once you start doing it (if you're like me) you won't be able to stop. Now, the problem with things like this, is you get so many ideas, but are you ever actually going to use them? So I was on pinterest the other day and I saw this quote "I'm broke, therefore, I craft." And I thought, "hey! I can do that!" We found a new house to move to (more on that later) and I want to re-vamp our decorating style. I've never been super in love with how our home is decorated now, but the problem is, home decorating can be expensive. But, not if you're crafty and thrifty. So I saw this DIY tutorial floating around on pinterest and thought I'd give it a try. So with some FREE vases my mom had lying around in her garage, and a 20% off your entire purchase to Michaels, I created these cool vases for around $8. While Leah danced around and sang along to her new Barney DVD ($4.95 at Target) I painted vases in the kitchen. (posted the pics on Facebook, and a friend is giving me a bunch of vases she has lying around. YAY!) And there you have it. An inexpensive and fun way to and some color to your home decor!

I also did one in grey, but didn't take a pic. Can't wait to do more thrifty crafts and to put these in the new house!

The vases are so cute!
My dad showed me how to do this decalcomania style, adhering images to the inside of the glass and spray painting instead of using the enamel paint and I was TERRIBLE at it. These look really great! I'd be interested to know if the paint would work with an image pasted in because the effect is pretty cool— makes it look like porcelain.
